Forum Rules

Introduction

Participation in the PSO-World.com website constitutes agreement to the following rules, which apply to posts, private messages, profile information, avatars, signatures, new comments, any other content on this site and participation in general.

Because of the live nature of the discussions on this community, it is not possible for us to review and/or confirm the accuracy or validity of a message before it is posted. If you believe that someone has violated the rules or you have spotted content that may otherwise require attention, please use the "Report Post" feature or send a private message to an administrator describing the problem. Notification is voluntary, but in no case should a user respond to a situation personally, thereby aggravating the situation further. Responding to a violation in an inflammatory manner is a violation in itself and will result in appropriate action.

Rules

Any content that violates our User Rules will be edited or removed. Interpretation of our rules is at the discretion of the staff.

  1. Inflammatory Posts
Inflammatory posting is defined as purposefully antagonizing other users. Inflammatory posting includes the following behavior: name calling, insults, harassment, discrimination, making derogatory statements about another religion/race/sexual orientation, and racial slurs. Also, do not deliberately provoke fights. If you feel someone has created an inflammatory post, do not respond to it. Instead, use the "Report Post" button and the staff will review it.

  2. Disruptive Posts
Posts that disrupt the flow of the conversation and normal activities of the board are not allowed. Examples of disruptive behavior include: posts that force users to scroll excessively (horizontally or vertically), largely blank posts, duplicate posts, unnecessarily nesting spoilers, hoaxes, and creating nonsensical posts.

  3. Bumping
Bumping is replying to a thread solely to raise its profile. Bumping is only allowed in the case of floating stickies (a list of specially marked topics at the top of each forum) or trade threads that have been created within the last two weeks. If a thread has not been replied to within the last six weeks, leave it alone. In the case of excessive bumping, the offending bump posts will be removed.

  4. Off-Topic/Spam Posting
Create new topics in the appropriate forums. If you make a mistake and post in the wrong forum, contact us and the thread will be moved. When replying to a thread outside the Fresh Kills Landfill forum, be sure your reply is on-topic and relevant. Be constructive with your replies, try to avoid one-word replies. Replies are expected to be relevant to the topic and respectful. Please note that Fresh Kills is still moderated and while you can freely post in it, limits do apply.

  5. Pornography
Do not post pornographic images of any nature or links to websites containing pornographic pictures. This means no posting of any adult-related material or material that would be unsuitable for viewing by minors. Posts with descriptions or details of any sexual act or organs will be removed.

  6. Attitude
You must respect your fellow members. Please refrain from making inflammatory and defamatory comments as well as insulting, taunting, and general disrespect. Do not simply put down the opinion or advice given by others. If you do not agree with a post, respectfully say why. Do not just tell another user they are wrong. Do not make uninvited remarks about typos, duplicate posts, or posting styles.

  7. Privacy
Do not post messages from Email/Private Messages/Chat Logs if they are meant to be private. This includes reposting private messages from PSO-World.com on another forum without the explicit consent of the author/recipient of the message. Also, do not post private - personal or identifying - information about someone without that person's explicit consent.

  8. Multiple Accounts
Each user is allowed to create one account. If you would like to change your username, please contact us and, most likely, we can do it for you while you can keep all of your profile data, posts, and other content.

  9. Advertising
Posts made specifically for the promotion of a website, product, or service are considered advertising. Advertising also includes creating posts that unnecessarily send people to a website with which you are affiliated. Advertisement links are only allowed in signatures and profiles. Anyone found to be posting excessive links to their websites or suspected of using "sneaky" advertising methods is in violation of this rule.

  10. Blocking PSO-World.com Advertisements
PSO-World.com's hosting is paid for by the insertion of ad banners on every page. Posts discussing methods for blocking ads will be removed.

  11. Illegal Activities
Posts that discuss illegal activities, transactions, or link to websites containing warez, cracks, ROMs are not allowed. Do not post copyrighted materials - examples: videos, MP3s - that you do not have permission to reproduce or distribute.

  12. Cheat Codes and Methods
Cheating is defined as exploting in-game glitches or outside sources - example: Action Replay - to disingenuously improve your in-game standing or inflict harm on the community. Posting or asking for cheat codes is not allowed. Do not link to sites that contain exploit methods or cheat codes.

  13. Real Money Transfers
Trades involving real-world money and in-game items are not allowed. This also includes using items such as Microsoft Point cards in trades.

  14. Signatures
Signature images are limited to a combined total of 600 pixels in width, 180 pixels in height, and 100,000 bytes in filesize. For signatures without images, you may only have 5 lines of text. If there is a picture in the signature, the combined height of the picture and text shall not exceed 180 pixels.

  15. Administrative Actions
Moderators and administrators have the final say on anything. If you have a problem, you may make a complaint to them directly and not publicly on the website. Creating threads or posts that question or reference administrative decisions or potential administrative decisions, such as post removals and thread closures, is not permitted. We are not perfect and if you feel that we have made a mistake, please privately contact a staff member and we will review the situation.

  16. Minimum Age Requirement
PSO-World requires that members be over 13 years old at registration time.

Searching

How do I search for something?

The simplest way to search is to use the global search bar at the top of every page. This will allow you to search all available content types. If you want to use a more advanced search, you can use the Advanced Search option.

Advanced Search Operators

There are various search operators that will work when you search (you can of course use multiple operators in a single query)...

AND

The AND operator allows you to search for documents that must contain multiple keywords.
Example: hello AND world

OR

The OR operator allows you to search for documents that contain at least one keyword.
Example: hello OR world

NOT

The NOT operator allows you to search for documents that contain at least one keyword, not not others.
Example: hello -world

Group

Grouping allows you to group keywords together with various other operators.
Example: (hello world)

Phrase

Wrapping keywords in quotes will allow you to search for literal phrases.
Example: "hello world"

Proximity

You can specify a proximity search that tells the search engine that you only want documents if a keyword is within xx words of another keyword. In the example below, we only care about results that have the word "hello" within 10 words of the word "world".
Example: "hello world"~10

Quorum

Quorum matching is a bit of fuzzy logic with your search. In the example below, the query is asking for documents that have at least 2 of the 4 words contained in them.
Example: "hello world earth universe"/2

Strict Order

If you only want search results that contain documents with a certain word before another word, you can do so with the strict order operator.
Example: hello << world

Exact Form

To search for exact forms of keywords, you can do so with this operator.
Example: raining =cats and =dogs

Start & End Operators

The start and end operator allows you to find documents that start or end with something specific.
Example (anything that starts with the word): ^hello
Example (anything that ends with the word): world$
This search system was built with Sphinx for vBulletin 4.

Search FAQ

Select this option if you would like your search to look in the text of FAQ items as well as their titles.

Select an option here to specify how you would like your search query to be treated. 'Any words' will return the most numerous but possibly least relevant results, while 'Complete phrase' will return only results that contain exactly what you are searching for.
