Wierd ethical question.
Can't go in fan-art because it's nothing to do with PSO/U. It also has some really bizzarre background "drama" legend of the internet to go behind it. I'll try to simplify that part as much as possible--with a story!
Once upon a time there was an awful person who wrote an awful story. This story went beyond the usual 'terrible' qualifiers, and well into the realm of something so twisted and rotten as to offend anyone who read it, no matter what their "fetish" may be, if they even had one going in. The purpose for how it got so awful of why it was written was never known. There are just some things you shouldn't read.
The writer has re-surfaced, but not the whole story. The writer is ALSO an artist. An artist that draws certain things (but not the worst of them) from the story. Make no mistake though, the things drawn are still considered...wrong.
If you ask for an example, you'll get it. You're warned.
Anyway, it turns up that they may have won a design contest for a Sonic the Hedgehog somethingorother that's actually going to get published. So the question is:
All that horrid stuff came from the same person, but the contest doesn't know. Are you "ok" with them getting acclaim for something as cool as Sonic when you know their "sins" (that are directly related to Sonic also)?
Like I am fine with artists who draw awesome stuff, and then turn up the occaisional pr0n image, so what really it's harmless. Draw up a bunch of nakeds or whatever, just keep making cool stuff too and don't suddenly shift over to all "rated R or X" and quit awesome action or real talent showcase pieces.
So they're not some pr0n drawer or anything, I wouldn't harsh on something so mundane as porn/nakeds/slashing/whatever. No you don't know the extent of the rot, but you can probably imagine any number of awful things and just know that they've enjoyed them.
And if anyone else knows what specific thing I'm talking about, I'll be stunned, and wish you some mental bleach.
