If one player isn't completely destroying the other each time, which is probably why co-op games were suggested.

Gunstar Heroes is a must. Even 14 years after its release, it's still an awesomely fun two-player game. Virtual Console, ftw.

Then there's the obvious... Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mario Golf, Mario Kart Double Dash, and Wii Sports, Gears of War, Aegis Wing, Ikaruga...

I submit that there is no multiplayer game out there that has the longevity of Starcraft. The original game with expansion and strategy guides costs a mere $20 or less, and it's meant to be installed on multiple computers for LAN parties. Consider it.

Metal Arms. Great game that's grossly ignored. Great looking levels, good weapons, good A.I for the robots you take control of in multiplayer battles. Even better on 3-4 players.

You into any Sports ? When my cousin comes over we usually go through Dynasty mode on NBA Live or a season in FIFA. Sport games turn incredibly funny for some reason when they're multi player.
