yeah, you have to complete all of the offline quests and then do the quest, i think its called The Unsealed Door, and there is a person there that will change the items into weapons for you, also refer to the guides, they help alot
The photon drops can be used in the "shopping" quest for Episode II
You use them to exchange for items
Personally, I'd look at the list on the main website before trading anything (i'm holding out for a Nei's claw =P)
