Ummm i dunno as it has been so long since i saw them, but Optimus delivers the spark personally, and megatron's spark somehow gets back to the original after he blows up.
The reason for the oddities in Beast wars/machines is because originally the makers had only known scarce amounts of info and they were supposed to be characters from the original, but in new bodies in the present day, but another studio or something got ahold of it and because they had near complete freedom they just did what they wanted which ended up with all new characters from 300(or 4 million...both was quoted) years after the great war that were sent to the prehistory of the earth...Originally they didn't know if they were gonna have the planet as earth, but they had the idea so even though it wasn't quite decided it looks like it was for the first season... But then after that they decided to have it part of the G1 universe and the reason for any other oddities is simply because shows when they are first made often change various things over the course of the show which are important, but are overlooked by the original creators so any series after that corrects these various problems...
You may note that throughout transformers they use the term cycle...1 minute in some cases is 5 cycles and this is distinctly shown in an episode in a later episode Rhinox says there is 3 cycle till the launch of the Axalon but the fighting is more than a minute long.
Another oddity is that the Beast wars transformers don't know anything about earth as far as i can tell...so earth was forgotten after only 300 years even though the autobots and humans made a very strong alliance and regardless they would know where earth is ^.^ It'd make sense if it was a lot longer, like several million years like originally stated...but i think the way it was stated the "autobot/decepticon" war last 4million years and was only solved in the last 300 years which is fully possible, making the date for transformers is 4,002,300AD and humans are either dead or part of the transformers empire so much that they have spread out...but that's not possible since well...in machines megatron completely wiped out all the transformers on cybertron where humans would most likely be... so humans in transformers eventually die out apparently.
There is also another problem of the transformers being in an already altered form of cars and such that wont exist for another several thousand years....
btw...in the movie the form you see in the movie briefly before they choose forms is their protoform that came from beast wars ^.^
