What does this meen when it says patterns 1,2,or 3 and how do you know which variation your in on episode 1?
The pattern just refers to the layout of a particular area in regards to the maps posted in the guides section: Maps.
Basically it is a reference for where you char starts at the beginning of the level and where the warp to the next level/boss is located. The maps also list things like where traps are located, location of healing rings , location of the Totems, switches, etc.
