As a gunner, I find it works great to run past them. It takes them two hops to turn towards you, allowing you enough time to smash them with the fist PA of rising strike. Once they're on the ground you can land a bunch of shotgun or crossbow hits before they get up.

Yeah; four levels. XD To his side, even; not the tail. Oh well, He still can't match my 'nades, so we're even.

Thing about vahras, they can only hit directly in front of them. I tend to run at them at an angle, so they miss their lunge, then PA them from the back. Hunters just have an easy time with them, especially if they're good at side-stepping.

I've been hit from their sides, so their hitboxes have to be more like hitcones

I was actually going to comment on that, seems like if Vahra's get a lock on you,you need to be a considerable distance away to avoid a hit.

Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but it seems to me that when they "lock" onto you, their given a larger hitbox. The reason I say this is because if I'm approaching from the side, while someone else is
being attacked,it won't hit me,like it would if I was running the way I was coming in.

Or is that because they can only target one person? The latter is more likely.

whenever i get close in, wait for them to start jumping, and i run away and to the side, they miss by a mile, but if im really close and strafe, they seems to be able to turn with me, wtf is that?

I dunno; very rarely do I ever run missions that have free-roaming GoVahra. XD Only one I do is PO, and there are blank spots, there. >

I've always used the first hit of spiral dance or buten. not too hard, just keep them on the ground as best you can.

Well, that's the thing ... for some reason Go Vahras rarely hit Raul. For me, there's just no escaping them. Yet maybe 60-75% of the time, when a Go Vahra tries to leap at Raul and he's close range ... they'll slide around him; in such a situation getting grazed by a Go Vahra would drop me on the floor, but for Raul he doesn't get hit nearly as often (or for nearly as much).
I've seen this happen too. In one group, I was told, "stand still, they'll leap harmlessly right past you." I watched the team stand still and not get hit at all. Yet when I tried standing still, they still hit me. We couldn't figure out why. My guess was either lag or that I was on PS2 and they were on PC.
