Ok people, my bad, I just wrote that and like half of it was about private server things then I saw the sticky and was like OOPS!

anywho, if I tried to use GC Ep 1&2 in a Wii, it could still go online, right?

The online component of Episode 1&2 does not work on the Wii.

at least I still have my GC, but I was hoping I could play with some of my friends, most of whom foolishly threw their GC out the window when they got a Wii

Yeah but not with the Wii's connection. You would still need the USB cable, LAN or GCN Modem to connect it.
