Where to hunt Catilium?

Personally, I would say if you have a couple of million, and Catilium's still around the 1.2 mil mark or so, then I'd say just go ahead and buy it to be on the safe side, but if it's gone up a bit in price, then try hunting it. It's not until it gets to be close to next Thursday when you should worry about making it.

is the relic sites good places to look for catilium on the 360? i'm not sure which platform u guys are talking about here.

oh cuz i was about to say, junaline drops. like everywhere and i get like 1-3 a level playing s runs. but i'm playing online 360

The way metals work is that there's one or two families assigned to each area. Only in those areas will the C, B, and S grade ones for that metal drop. A grade metals will drop in every area. Rank will also influence which grade can drop. All grades through A drop in ranks but S grade metals won't start to drop til S rank. Enemy level has no influence on box drops but rank will probably have a small impact on the drop rates as it goes up.

For Catilium, it drops in the Relics (like mentioned), HIVE, and Moatoob's valley and drift (mine tunnels if you don't know what a drift is) areas. Places that probably aren't explored too much these days (besides the relics for those obsessed with the psycho wand).

Offline has a completely different drop system from online. The biggest difference being that metals will drop from enemies offline while they'll only drop from boxes online. Where they show up and in what rank/levels would also likely be very different.

Now, Catilium is rightfully the rarest of the metals, because it naturally drops only in a few areas. The first two HIVE missions (not the boss shortcut one, but the other two), Agata Relics, and Valley of Carnage are the only spots that I know of where they drop regularl

By "boss shortcut" do you mean True Darkness?

Thats usually where I hunt Catilium. If you're running through solo you can clear it in about 15~20 minutes, theres two box spawns (that I KNOW of) that drop Catilium that are accessible to solo, and Fakis boxes also sometimes have Catilium (I've gotten 3 that way)

It dosent drop every run (far from it) but its good EXP and you have a chance for the Agito Repca, Gaozoran mats, and possibly Fakis 11* drops, so thats why its my Catilium hunt area of choice.

Silly wabits, if all you need is 1 or 2 pieces of catilium, you are far better off hunting it, then paying 1,000,000 or more meseta. if it cost 200k, then it might be worth it, but for 1 mil+? I'd do the hunting. It aint *that* rare.

To sousuka's point about enemy level though, it most certainly DOES play a part - otherwise S2 labs runs would yield large amounts of nanopolymner, and they don't

I play Plains Overlord S and can find Par Walna but if I do Lightning Beasts A, I can't find any at all. They're the same enemy level but because the rank is lower on the latter, the material won't show up.

I do alot of White Beast S in parties. Lv 110 enemies do that Ortapolymer should be dropping alot, right? Hardly. It's only S rank and it still has to share the drops with Ortasilica, carbon, and resin. Techniclly, S2 rank would be better even if the drop rate is the same because silicas won't drop that high.

Drops from boxes are set on a per rank basis and the enemy level has no influence on it.

then how do you explain the labs S2 lack of nanopolymer?

Moreover, what does Catilium drop from in these missions? Just about anything? Mobs? Boxes? Minibosses? End boxes?
