I remember in the original Dreamcast PSO rares would occasionally show up in the item shops (Blade Dances, etc.) Does this still happen in GC PSO? I'm a lvl 73 HUmar (Whitill) now, on vhard Ruins, and I've yet to see any rares in the shops.

Shops will never sell anything that comes in red boxes.
There's a hidden shop that sells red boxes containing used HUnewearls' pants. But you can reach this shop only by playing the Japanese version, and only under other certain conditions I'm not going to disclose.
Regarding the weapons like in the DC version: no. Sad, uh? I remember I got my Bloody Art 50% Dark by buying them at the P2 shop.
Sad indeed. No problem, though - it just inspires more rare hunting in vhard (and, once I reach lvl 80 or so, ultimate).
according to my pso strategy guide (GCUBE and XBOX)it says occasionally shops will sell a rare item (9 star) that other id's won't get.
I guess you can 'consider' an Ultimate Frame(9 stars) or Ultimate Shield(10 stars) sorta rare. Because I see them in shops once in awhile. But I doubt stores sell any REAL rare items. (Dragon Slayers, etc)
They do sell Monogrinders sometimes though...

No, I'm talking about gold-colored CAPITAL TEXT honest-to-goodness rares. I see monogrinders etc. all the time.
As I said, on the original DC version you could find "real" rares in the shops. Apparently in the GC version you cannot.
And that's... OK.
I don't recall EVER seeing a rare in the shop on DC. I had v2. Didn't see ANY.
