I've been wondering if I should get Saints Row 2...

I have it and played it all day!!!!! I just beat all the SoS missions, this game feels revolutionary and the best game to date cause it likes takes the gta formula and adds FUN and addicting freedom, rewards and customization in the mix. this is what gtaiv should have been.

and the story/full city co-op reminds me of the golden age of River City Ransom-level entertainment times infinity!!!!!

there's no way Fallout 3, Fable 2 or Resident Evil 5 will top this. I will still play those games but I can tell their lasting appeal will not match the masterpiece that is Saints Row 2.

but of course like all games, it's not for everyone.
but if there is any game someone who likes this genre should buy and own instead of rent, this would be it.

oh ya for driving, I suggest the 2nd control option (brake accel on triggers, with shooting on LB.) , but that's just me.

ya the "downside" is that full city/free roam co-op is limited to only 2 players, but that is already hundred times better than gtaiv's 16 player free mode, which stripped the city of all its flavors and left people with so little to do besides run, shoot and drive.

Friends are telling me that Saints Row 2 is like a mix of GTAIV and Crackdown, and I enjoyed both...I hear you can do some really cool stuff in it, and the controls are a lot more loose.

Too bad I have to wait since I've been RRoD'd :/

GTAIV wasn't fun? Seriously? Saner can you remember how much you were lauding GTA when it first came out? You do this with pretty much every game you "review", complete with comparisons to dissimilar games, many of which aren't even the same genre or similar in control. I guarantee that you'll do it again for all three of those games you mentioned, too (Fable 2, Fallout 3, RE5) even though all three of those games actually ARE better than saint's row 2.

Also, how can you be playing a video game all day on a tuesday?
