I just got an ATI 4850, and I had heard that anti-aliasing works with ATI cards. Is this true? Are there any specific options I need to use?

Look for something that allows you to adjust per-application graphical profile settings in the Catalyst Control Center. On NVIDIA Cards, it's the "new" Nvidia Control Panel. You have to create a new application-specific profile for PSU.exe and PSUoffline.exe and force Antialiasing on. It doesn't really work though. Things don't look any smoother and many things glitch out with it on.
However forcing SLI/Crossfire works well.
