who thinks the PSP warrenty system is messed up?

ok so a few days ago, i was looking at the PSP website, looking to see if the nice extended warranty i picked up for it covered the front plastic cover getting cracked, so I poked around and learned that if either the screen, or the plastic case gets cracked, your warranty is no longer valid...........i almost flipped out on my computer, while almost screaming "WHY MAKE IT THAT DELICATE IF THE WARRANTY DOESN'T EVEN COVER IT!" So i now ask you, does that sound very fair to PSP owners, yes, or no?

It's hardly delicate. I've had no problems with my fat PSP, aside from the fact that dust and dirt get underneath the plastic screen cover sometimes.

I can't imagine why they would exclude something like that.

Then again though, I don't know how easily the screen breaks.

Most warranties don't cover external damages, it's standard practice. Warranties exist for the sole purpose of fixing manufacturing errors like a malfunctioning chip or firmware.

Had the same issue with my iPod how ever long ago.
I just don't so warranties anymore. =)

Warranties are also there to discourage you from taking things apart yourself, so you're forced into buying a new one or paying money to a [insert brand name here] specialist store/kiosk.

friend broke his lcd and case about a year and a half ago, it was on one of the old fatty models. I think he snagged a brand new replacement screen and case off ebay for less then $50 and repaired himself. it's not that bad.

I understand the point though about it being a shitty warranty in the first place, but legal bs is legal bs. Perhaps you should have read through what the warranty covers before purchasing it? I really never purchase add-on warranties on anything unless it's over a grand, that way it's at least covered for a couple years.

Sony's warranty does not cover acts of God either (it actually says so).

What good is the warranty if it doesn't cover the stuff that breaks?
