My wife and I discovered that just having three people firing standard %less handguns (the kind you can buy with a level 1 character) at practically any boss on hard mode (we used chaos and mobius since they have a lot of HP and there aren't any particular "Oh Shit" moments to fighting them) is a pretty simple and effective chain-building formula. It's kind of boring though.
