I was looking in that "how old are you" topic and saw that most people were over 18, I'd been seeing this alot while playing with friends online too. Being a minor, I don't really have a valid opinion... Please post why you think so

I started playing this series way, way, way back in 1988, with the very first game on the Master System... when I was only 15.
It doesn't necessarily attract older players, rather, some of us have grown up alongside the series instead.
Meh. Wake me up again when a US release for PSO2 is announced, mmkay? Mmkay.
Ahh, that would make sense. And yeah Xefi, the phantasy star series.
Respekt.
Im not old enough to have played it when it first came out, but i've played all of the Phantasy Star games
@Chukie sue: Oh ok. So it's the Phantasy Star series.
What i like about the series is that its like an action rpg game where you can
shoot guns or slash with you melee weapons. There are not many games out there
like the Phantasy Star series; especially the online ones like PSO:BB or PSU. It's
always fun to play with friends as well. Maybe i just like the art style of the game;
it's quite unique and pretty to play.
Basically, it has that unique feelings that attract the variety of audiences rather than
just teen. That feeling to me is the joy of an action/rpg type. Not many games are like
that out there.
And i like most of the monsters design in the Phantasy Star series: Boomas, Rappy, Polty,
Del Rappy, Kondrieu...and etc. they're all look very awesome! ^ ^

phantasy star for life.
Yea, pretty much what OnnaWren said.
It's not so much attracting older players, it's more like people that were once young still enjoy the series.
It's just an all around "better" game style.
I like the whole thing about the three/now four races and space like environments, and killing things with photon weapons.
I was introduced to PSU, before any other PS game, so I got the better of them IMO, with the whole camera control and whatnot.
Then I played PSO, same style, but you get to raise a pet!
So, you get that almost real life thing going with raising a pet, but then you get to kill Phantasy shit.
Just awesome.
I've also been playing since the MasterSystem, For some of us I think its more of an experience now. Over the years I have been continually impressed with the Phantasy Star series. From obscure dungeon crawler to 16-bit juggernaut, and multi player masterpieces PSO/PSU. I have/do enjoy all the incarnations of this game and look forward to more.

For many, this was the only game that you could play online with other people. It was the first console MMO, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong. It was my first way back when on the Dreamcast.
And like everyone's acknoweldging, it's the 10th Anniversary and all of the 18 and older were 8 and older then.
