I don't have a preference. Like Ronin, I like good games, no matter what category you'd put them in.

Old or new doesn't matter to me as long as it keeps me entertained.

I think that your going to find alot of responses like Ronin's. I could care less about the graphical capabilites of a game, wether they be minimalist or hyper-realistic, what I do care about is gameplay.

I love Zelda 2, one of the best side-scrolling adventure games ever made in my opinion. On the same hand, I love (almost equally) Demon's Souls, a pretty current-gen title with alot of depth.

But if you want to know what i love more than anything else, it's when developers purposefully take a "dated" style and make it their own. Titles like 3D Dot Heroes and Fez come to mind for this kind of thing.

I just like high quality... Good music, good story, fun, memorable, and it helps if the game pulls on your heart strings

Yeah... uh... you need to define old/new-school.

That being said, there's games I enjoy for basically every generation from the NES forward.

If it's fun, I'll play it.

I'll have to agree that I'm a fan of most generations all round.
