I cried at the end of the first Klonoa. lol.

I also felt emotional ties to ffxi online, not just frustration, but awe and wonder and such.
I didnt even really play it for a long time, but that game has ambience out of the shizang.

PSO, I had emotions for? Happiness mainly, but, THe story was cheesy but I felt I was part of it. I felt really sad about Shino in Seek My Master... The PSO sidequests could be such bittersweet vignettes*tear*

Not sure what else? Probably a lot more games made me feel a certain way, but the scope of which you feel "emotion" is not the same for games as what you would feel at a major motion picture for instance, kind of hard to "remember" the special moments, although many have come about. The older really good SNES games could hit a bit deep, SD3, terranigma, to name a few.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned 'that incident' in FFVII, as well as FFVII in general.

I would have, if I didn't feel that scene was too overrated.
As for the game in itself, as much as I enjoyed the cast and boss battles in general, I've been only thrilled by the story for the first few hours, then it became much less interesting when I reached the world map and the game lost most its post-apocalyptical-steampunk feel I was loving in Midgar.
Then came Sephiroth, and it got even worse. Jenova should have been the main villain.

I think the statute of limitations for FFVII has long passed... Anyway, she sucked in combat. I was glad to see her go, one less character to level.

It bothered me a little when I was 12 and I heard about before actually playing the game. Now it's just an awkward scene with a tacky villlain and a character solely defined by her death followed by snowboarding!

It falls a little bit flat in retrospect.

Now that's what I'm talking about.

The final scene with the Boss is one of the best moments in video gaming. I love it.

I also love the final battle of Shadow of the Colossus.

well thanto all of you i would totally recommend fragile dreams as i did b4, that game could probably get an emotional response out of a lot of us with the items of memory that people had because strangely, they knew they were gonna die. one of them the ending is, "i'm sorry for being selfish but, I don't wanna die, I don't wanna die yet." and the dog collar one is so sad too especially for people who love dogs

I remember Skies of Arcadia. I was a kid when I played it, but I felt so... adventurous just playing the game. I loved that game to death.

The thing about Demon's Souls that scared me was the difficulty, at least on my first few playthroughs. The whole fifth world is so hard(minus the bosses.) I've actually screamed while playing the game.
    Spoiler!
It gets worse playing that place in Pure Black (I managed to get through it recently, after dying at least 6 or so times). Honestly, Valley of Defilement is the worst level I've ever played in any video game, I think. It's not like it's especially hard, but MY GOD IS IT CHEAP. And on Pure Black, there's the occasional Black Phantom Giant Goblin and Black Phantom Garl Vinland (who is next to impossible to kill for a magic-using build like me, but after 7 or so deaths and 200 stabs with a Blueblood Sword...).

Arrgh, how did I forget Metroid Prime 2. That game made my skin crawl during my first playthrough, but I loved it to death. The Ing were just nightmarish.

Because I mean, Grenchlers weren't frightening enough (giant lightning-shooting bipedal alligators), but then they have a demonic-possession form where they're black and covered in purple spikes. Oh, and then there's the boss one which has sharp spiny hair, a mono-eye, and it SLOWLY DRAGS YOU INTO ITS MOUTH WITH ITS GRAPPLING BEAM. Arrgh. But it's only a sub-boss of that area! The actual boss is a giant devil dragonfly.

I suppose the game's Nightmare Fuel quality and the crippling difficulty of Boost Guardian kept me from playing it for a while as a kid.
