The board would slowly die with chat. Plus it might encourage people not to type fully and correctly, or give them time to think about what to say, therefore possibly resulting in more strife than what is needed.

Chat rooms have never worked out too well, but some kind of one-on-one chat feature, similar to what exists on Facebook, might not be too bad. However, I don't think we have a practical way of adding this type of feature just yet. You never know what might happen in the future, though

A one on one chat thing would be pretty cool, because PMing or using the visitor messages takes so much time to get a reply.
Instant messaging would be useful.

Though, not a large chat thing. That would be bad, IMO.
