best performing party members for solo?

what setups do you guys use when soloing? i usually do something like

magashi / ethan
karen
mysynth (dragon)

always good to have a melee distraction. the occasional heal even with the crappy AI is nice. and i feel its always good to have your synth for the % resist bonus

I usually go solo, but for AIs I use Lumia, PM464, Magashi.

If you're using the Infinity demo, just make some alts. You can customize them and are probably more worth it.

Anyways, the trick is to know which characters to use under what conditions as well as knowing which ones cover your weaknesses.

Meh. Even those two don't impress me. Only the PM seemed to actually worth it (but only a tiny bit). Otherwise, they're all for distraction & meat shields.

Speaking of NPC partners, I feel sorry for Maya in English version... she sounds like she's got a constipation.

"The poor, poor girl… If only something could be done to help her."

And, wow, I have same PM as you... her whips are kinda nice, but it surely lacks punch.

I use my somewhat-trusty MS-514. Half the time he's useless (the plight of using any NPC), but when he does decide to be useful he's awesome. I never have to use mates, never have to use Sol Atomizers, and his R-Mag constantly stuns enemies and helps chain.

I also use Magashi, mostly because I like the idea of him knocking things down with his Axe. Unfortunately he almost never uses it.

Magashi is the walking meat shield.
Shizuru is the chain breaker.
Lou does some actual support.
Karen spams Grants like no other.
Ethan the other meat shield, but much squishier.
Tonnio walking around and trying to hit things.
Liina with her handgun.
Emilia and he random Zonde spam.
Yut just taking hits.
Kraz can't hit worth crap with his guns.
Chelsea can't dodge.
Ursula is indecisive about using her whip or casting techs.
Lumia offers some support, but shares the same fate as her brother.
Vivienne fails at healing and lacks any real damage.
Black Cat is weird.
White Cat is weirder.
Maya is just forgotten.

Now you know how I feel about each character, this is how my team normally is: myself, Karen, Lou and either PM GH460 series or currently GH420 something.

Karen and Lou and the PM's usually heal instead of being too busy spamming PA's and breaking the chain at 3.

It used to be Shizuru, Magashi and Lou, but being the meat head he is, Magashi dies, or for some reason not fight. Shizuru breaks all of my chains at 3 or lower, if the chain is higher than 7 then it was a miracle. Lou normally stands back and shoots things, but usually she doesn't hit, but I kept her for the healing purposes.

And I forgot to mention that I buff them, just for the sake of them being the walking HP tanks they are.

For me, I just have my good ol bucket with names in it. Randomly choose 3 and those three become my partners for that missions or the rest of the day.

@venn: NPCs aren't worth it. I use them because they cover my weaknesses (lv. 21 buffs, HP tanking, status coverage).

GH473. The only thing it can do is build chains and heal.

Until Infinity, he's the only NPC that I would bother using.

I either don't bring anyone or just bring 1 NPC from this list:

-Vivienne; Fluge make me forgive some of her shortcomings. Her stun infliction is fun too.
-Magashi; Cluster makes me forgive some of his shortcomings...And he keeps stuff knocked down, so I'm happy.
-GH 433; she likes using her machine gun, so she can't hit anything. The only reason I use her is because the moment when her and my character coordinate buffs are extremely cute.

Just a single NPC makes the chain breaking a whole lot less horrible. And I prefer them to keep their S-rank gear during boss fights too :/
