Take everything from PSU.
Add:
- Muscle definition control
- Control over individual colors on clothing/armor (ala Champions Online)
- More clothing "slots" (rather than just top, bottom, shoes, headwear - add, for example, belt, hands, jewelry slots. One-piece outfits are acceptable but far from ideal)
- More control over shape, both body and face (let us make non-pear-shaped wimminz and barrel-chested guys! See, for example, EVE Online)
- Scars, tattoos, piercings!
Also, related to customization indirectly: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't have crazy variance in boob size across multiple outfits. That just reeks of carelessness, not to mention is seriously annoying when you have one size in mind and switching to an outfit completely changes it. BLAH!
The standards have changed considerably since the release of PSU. Since then, in the customization department, we've had APB, Aion, Champions Online, EVE Online, and even Soul Calibur 4 stepping up to the plate and delivering obscenely detailed customization options far surpassing even PSU's gamut of options.
If PSO 2 is to be a success, it must, at the very least, keep up with the competition - if not surpass them outright.
