Default A way to help the 3DS!?

With success and lifespan of the PSP all thanks to Monster Hunter(and a few other games). Do you think the 3DS will be as or more uber successful if a MH game was made for it? Hopefully as large as Freedom Unite?

No. The 3DS is dead in the water. Not even that mediocre Zelda game could save it. Looks like I might be right and it's going the way of the old Virtual Boy.

I heard for a long time that Capcom had planned a MonHan for the 3DS, BUT it really does look as if it would be better for the Vita, especially if that it'll be released during the holiday season.

Monster Hunter would absolutely help push more copies of the system out in Japan, as it is still much bigger there than it is here. And the system seems absolutely capable of providing a good MH experience.

Right now in fact there is a game titled Heroes of Ruin which is looking to combine stuff from Diablo/PSO and Monster Hunter to create a unique title for the 3DS that can offer a more console-ish experience to the handheld. It sounds great, and has been getting fairly positive feedback from people who have tried it hands on.

The 3DS has been off to an incredibly rough start (and me being a launch day buyer and having some of the worst issues, I can tell you that first hand), and Nintendo's got a ways to go before the system is going to gain its sea legs but it has been taking some good steps to get the system back on track. In fact, there's going to be a 3DS-centric Nintendo conference on the 13th of September so keep an eye out then for more news, who knows maybe some Monster Hunter 3DS could pop up then!

Nintendo's had some rough launches for awhile, but I think it's way too early to consider the 3DS "dead". I don't remember the DS really having a 'killer app' until Nintendogs hit, and then the flood gates opened and look at it's library now. Similar things could be said about the PS3 at launch. To answer the question, I think as far as Japan is concerned, MH would push some units out the door. In other territories though, Nintendo will probably have to be a little more creative, or just stick to their guns (ie: Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, blah blah). I'd personally love to see a 2D sidescrolling Metroid, or maybe another Golden Sun or better yet Mario Golf or Tennis. I know I personally won't be getting one for just a single new IP, and certainly not for these rehashes that have been choking the system. Nintendo has learned some harsh lessons the past few years, and if dedicated handhelds are still apart of their market they'll find away to sell it.

Well the DS wasn't notable to non-causals until stuff like CVoS started to hit it.

At the moment the 3DS needs fresh new titles such as the Zone of Enders 3DS that was revealed somewhere. But as it is, there hasn't been much of note among the rehashes (and who knows about TotA 3DS)

Not all systems start out winners, it wasn't until FFVII that the Playstation went from having a possible lead to outright dominating the other consoles.

Ah, so it's another PSP. No matter why I'm attracted to the system. Guess this makes me a necrophiliac.

Virtual Boy sucked as a system in general. A good issue of that systems lack of success was not only did it just play its small library, but the hardware was uncomfortable to use, not portable, forced you to view things uncomfortably, and had that awful red-black color scheme. It was easier and better on the eyes to use the gameboy.

Red and Black looks cool as displays in a Leer Jet, but not a good plaform for gaming.

3DS issues are simply late games. But late on games doesn't write off a system so early in its release. Lest we forget how *both* the PS2 and the PS3 didn't get their real games until 2 years after the systems launched. Both (especially the PS2) eventually did pretty darn well, regardless. Nintendo wont make gamers wait as long as Sony. Heck, the PSP had a wait longer than this.

Maybe, just maybe, Sony will actually break their record and actually have maybe 5 good system-specific games on the Vita within the first year of release. If so, Sony has finally changed their game.
