One more thing you should check:
Go to the main PSP screen and go allllll the way to the left until you can't go any further. You'll be in the "Settings column". Then go down allllll the way until you can't go any further as well! You should be highlighting the "Network Settings" option.
Go and do it on both PSPs. It'll be the same, so don't worry.
Ok, then select it pressing the "X" button. Ok, this is where you'll see the following options:
Ad Hoc Mode (this is for local multiplayer settings)
Infrastructure Mode (this is for everything concerning online stuff)
Since you want to do Local Multiplayer games with your Girlfriend, go and select "Ad Hoc Mode". Ok, now once that's done you'll see a screen that asks:
"Set to the channel in use for the PSP™ systems you want to connect to."
And then underneath are the selections:
Automatic, Ch 1, Ch 5, and Ch 11. To make things simple on the both of you, just select "Automatic". Then just hit the -> direction on the D-Pad and then hit X to save.
It sounds a lot more complicated than it should, but this is to make sure both PSPs are on the same frequency, and it's the equivalent of using the Link Cables on the GameBoy to play Tetris/Pokemon and what have you from back in the day. Only now it's wireless! ^_-
Now just follow the advice above mine and go play some PSPo2 with the one you love! No internet or PS3 required! Enjoy you two!
