Eh, I've listened to that tune a couple times; didn't really fit.

I've got something picked out, though you'll have to wait and see.

Hey guys, finally got to work writing. Hope you enjoy this, time to see some of what En is thinking.

    ---------------------------

Stepping into the CIC, my mood hadn’t improved at all, so I quietly looked around the Command Center. The left side of the room was raised, with lines of consoles where the handlers sat, relaying with teams while they were on mission. The right side of the room had less consoles, and was more spaced out, with a person generally monitoring two or three different consoles, having to move between them at semi regular intervals. This side of the room was hectic right now, with the people monitoring the consoles running back and forth regularly. The center of the room had a raised circular table, which came to about waist height, a large transparent globe hovering just above the table. This was the area’s star map. Several medium sized dots represented Arks ships, while a large amber sphere represented Lillipa. There was a group of even smaller dots leaving the Arks ships – campships, moving from the ship to the planet. Daryl was towards the back of the room, talking to a pair of individuals.

    “En?”

Turning my head to the left without moving my body, I noticed Farrid behind me. She smiled and waved, “Hi, En.”

I looked forward at the map, my voice cold. “Hello, Farrid.”

She walked up to my left side, “H-hey, are you okay, En?”

“I’m fine. Just a little tired.” I didn’t look at her.

“Hey, are you telling the tru-”

At that point, Daryl noticed us. “Enforcer! Farrid! Good, good. This is important, so listen up!” He walked towards us, stopping with the map behind him, and put his hands behind his back. “For this operation, we’re pulling out a lot of firepower. You will be escorting a Sigma class APC to the enemy concentration. You will not be moving through the usual desert corridors, this is going to be a huge expanse of open terrain. The APCs will be moving in a spaced out line, some with a full contingent of Arks being transported inside, others with supplies, plus the outside escort. Also, we’ll have gunships overhead for cover fire. Once the APCs reach the concentration, all Arks will disembark and engage the enemy. Once the enemy presence has been neutralized, we’ll go about finding out why they were there in the first place.

Also! We’ll be field testing a new system – the sub class system. With this, you can have a second class as a ‘sub class’ and be authorized to use certain skills, weapons, and the like that are associated with this class. This will increase every Arks’ flexibility in combat, and expand upon their abilities. Make sure you set your sub class and make any necessary changes before you go. Your designation is Echo 2-6. The APC that you’ll be guarding is Sigma 6-6. Any questions?”

Farrid raised her hand, “How bad is this? This group of enemies, I mean.”

Daryl was quiet a moment, “We’re estimating at least three times the number of Darkers that invaded the ship.

The Ranger’s eyes grew wide, “Th-three times!? We’re going to be fighting that many? Isn’t that a bit much?”

“That’s why this is a joint operation. We’re making sure they know they won’t get away with something like the invasion of an Arks ship.” He turned away from us and looked up at the map. “We go in, clear the area, and then continue on. Simple. Now, any other questions?”

I was quiet a moment. “…That means I get to kill as many of them as I want, right?”

    “…That’s correct, En.”

I began flexing my fingers, “…Good…good…That’s all, Commander.”

Daryl looked back a moment, “That’s everything, then. You’re dismissed.”

“…Sir.” I grumbled; an edge to my voice. I turned on my heel and left the CIC, still flexing my fingers, eager to get to Lillipa.

Farrid looked back and forth frantically as Enforcer left. “C-Commander? Doesn’t En seem a bit…weird?

Looking around the room, the older man sighed before placing his hands on the panel, “You saw it as well, then? Good, I’m not crazy.” He took his hands off the panel, and pressed the tips of his fingers together, before pressing the ends of his pointer fingers against his lips. Then he lowered them, and turned towards the blue-haired soldier. “I’d like you to do something for me, Ms. Invaal.”

    She frowned, “Sir?”

As you’ve noticed, Enforcer isn’t operating under his normal mindset – or at least he doesn’t appear to be. You and I both know the reason for that.”

    “You mean Cornelia.”

“Precisely. Now, it hasn’t happened yet, but I’m afraid he might do something…drastic. I’d like you to watch him and make sure that doesn’t happen.”

“…You’re asking me to spy on him, Commander?”

He chuckled, “No, not at all. You’re worried about him yourself, right? You’re just keeping an eye on him…for both of us.”

Farrid shifted where she stood, “I…I guess. Fine, I’ll watch him.”

“Thank you, Ms. Invaal. That’s all; you’re dismissed.”

“Sir!” She saluted and turned on her heel, quickly walking out of the CIC.

The Commander sighed and turned back towards the map, putting his hands behind his back once more. “Get through this, soldier…”

    …..

I looked up from a console as Farrid stepped into the observation room overlooking the campships. It was a long, rectangular room (though it may be more appropriate to call it a hallway of sorts) with a large, paneled window in the front showing the campships and their lifts, and rows of crates in the back of the hallway. The door Farrid had walked through was located on the right end of the hallway, and connected to the rest of the ship. An exit on the far left end of the hall led to a stairwell that connected to the campships. That’s where we’d be heading in a few minutes.

“Sure took your time, didn’t you?”

She looked out the window, “I was talking to the Commander about something.”

Nodding, I replied, “I see. Anyway, this is for you.” I held my right arm out. In my hand was a yellow scarf.

She took the scarf and held it out in front of her, “Wha..? What’s this for, En?”

I turned and tapped a few buttons on the console. “I was checking the situation report, and many units are saying that there are heavy sandstorms moving in. I thought that having some kind of protection from the elements was in order. That’s all.”

The blue haired Ranger looked down at the scarf and smiled, “Yeah. Thanks, En.”

“No problem.” I turned back towards the console, “Make sure you get set up quickly. I want us ready to leave in the next ten minutes.”

Armor plates appeared on my lower legs, and I backed up from the console. “I’ll see you down there, Farrid.”

“Okay, En. I won’t be long.”

I turned to my left and made my way down the hall and out onto the stairwell. This area was basically an enormous square, with the back wall lined with stairwells and lifts, the bottom of the square lined with campships. About a quarter of the way down the stairs, just as I reached a landing with a trash bin, I heard jeering coming from above me.

“Hey, I recognize him! ‘at’s the grumpy old Cast that was with Cornelia before she got kidnapped. Hey, up here, you stupid trash compactor!”

Quietly sighing, I looked up. On a platform above and ahead of me, were two male humans. They’d been there during the last sparing session between me and Cornelia, before I scared the group off. One was wearing a hat, and he was particularly mouthy. “Yeah, you! So? Is it true? It’s your fault that Cornelia got taken away? You couldn’t even protect her? Who the hell are you, anyway? You two were always seen together. What are you, her pet?”

His friend tried to calm him down, “Hey, Lucan, ease up on the guy, would ya? He did the best he could. We don’t even know what happened; nobody is saying. He’s probably the only one who understands what exactly did go down.”

“Are you kidding me? Don’t defend that thing. It couldn’t even keep Cornelia safe, why’d she even keep it around? Useless piece of scrap…”

Silently shaking my head, I walked around the trash bin, eager to get to the campship. The human leaned on the guardrail, “Yeah, that’s right, walk away! You useless thing!”

I’d made it down one or two more steps when I heard the friend yell, “Lucan, stop!” And then I felt something hit the back of my head.

Lucan started laughing, “D-Did you see that!? It’s sticking to his head! Hahahaha!”

I stopped, and pulled the object, an orange, off of the fin on the left side of my head with my left hand. Slowly, I turned and walked back up to the landing, staring at the human the entire time. I held the orange over the trash bin as our eyes met. I crushed the fruit effortlessly, causing Lucan to wince, if only slightly. Then, I turned my hand and let the pieces fall into the trash bin before turning around and walking down the steps. From behind me I heard a “Chh! Let’s go.”

That’s just how it was. There were a lot of non-combatants on board, and not all of them particularly liked Casts. It was understandable. I looked like I was a cold machine. No organic parts, nothing that looked even remotely like flesh. I was just a machine to a lot of people. It didn't help that there weren't a lot of Cast civilians. It perpetuated the idea that we were just machines of war. Also: to an extent, they were right. It’s not as if I was like a human or a newman. I couldn't just shack up with a girl and start a family. I flat out couldn't. I wasn't as easily damaged, and if I was, I just replaced the broken part. I didn't even need Resta in some cases. Granted, it still worked for a lot of repairs, but it wasn't full-proof. I didn't have those soft, round bodies, either. I was hard; angular. In terms of what we were; Cornelia and I were opposites. She had a soft form with lots of curves. Pretty face, nice long hair. And at some point, Cornelia would probably want a family, and at least she could have biological children. It was no wonder she grabbed people’s attention, whether it was in the Arks or out. And it was no wonder people wanted to blame me for losing her.

Reaching the campship, I made my way inside and sat in one of the chairs located in the section just before the deployment area. The seat was next to a window, so I propped my head up with the palm of my left hand, and looked out. A minute or so later, Farrid stepped in, and sat in a seat close to me. Staring at me for a few seconds, she wondered, “En? Is everything okay?”

Without moving, I replied, “Yeah, Farrid…Everything’s fine.”

So I'm not the only one who likes to use Lilipan as a planet for some grand event =w= I had in mind to use that planet for some major stuff if I ever decided to move on with my fanfic.

    Keep it up enf~
