I'm hoping these starters just have Treecko Syndrome (as in they start out stupid looking and get cool when they evolve), also don't hate on Chandelure.
I was actually wondering how long it would be before they actually made one for the 3DS, I guess I have my answer now.
gold and silver on gameboy still left biggest impression on me personally... but I was at the prime age/generation/interest in pokemon when it hit me,
ruby and sapphire generation is probably the one I played the most though... /probably 50 hours on all three games and like 30-40 hours on leafgreen

I loved pokemon Black and & White, and it has created most of my favourite pokemon (Chandelure, Musharna, Krookodile, Hydreigon, Scolipede). So I am really excited to see what they will come up for this generation. And to me, it's already looking good.
Chespin is a chestnut and porcupine, it can only get more awesome from here. Fennekin is a freaking fennec fox, best idea ever. And Froakie looks like a sky tree fog. Would be awesome he if based on rain clouds and ends up being water/flying.
Love the 3D graphics, love the roller blades, love everything!
Man, I have not finished a Pokemon game since... Pokemon Red?
(I mean, I finished the Johto part of Silver, but not Kanto. I got up to the Elite Four in Ruby but never beat it. I think I have 6 or 7 badges in Diamond? I only have 4 or 5 badges in Black. I am terrible.)

This game looks gorgeous and I'm looking forward to some big changes (which probably won't happen) and then somebody will probably guilt me into buying it anyway so I can play it with them and then I never wind up playing with them (like with Black).
If i can't catch Sandile / Juppetta I quit.

I'll buy it, but my plan is to go in with rock bottom low expectations. That way I'll be able to hopefully enjoy it for whatever it is without constantly comparing it to the magic of Red/Blue/Silver/Gold viewed through the lens of childhood.
I like the fox starter, but that grass guy looks terrible.

Starters look so poorly done, I can imagine the rest might be as well.
S/R will always be my favorite gen.
