Session finally concluded around 2:30 PM JP time (too lazy to convert), 8 hours or so since we started.

Though, things slowed down significantly after the Falz run. Vin, Melodia, and I ran a scenario where we completely wrote up the combat instead of us going onto a field and steamroll everything in our path while saying one liners. :V

    How'd it go? Well...

    Spoiler!

Actually forgot to turn on windows so people would see the chat log...

So instead a brief summary of what happened should suffice:

Rita, Melodia, and Vin was relaxing in the red lounge. There was a scream heard outside so the three turned to investigate only to see the owner of said voice get impaled by a stray Dagan. All three was shocked to find a Darker appear inside the city. Two more came around the corner and all three charged the group. They were quickly dispatched.

After taking care of those three. The group started hearing yelling and screaming up ahead leading into the center of the plaza. Once again they went ahead to investigate only to find out that all hell has broken loose and Dagans have invaded the plaza. Dead civilians everywhere, blood splatter, all that good stuff. Undoubtably, This caused Rita to snap and freeze in place while Melo and Vin started to kill off Dagans chasing civilians.

Of course, Dagans don't like it when their buddies hit the dirt so all of them started to swarm towards the group while the survivors make a break towards the red lounge to seek shelter. The group was defending the hallway leading to the lounge. Rita is still losing it while Melo and Vin was trying to reduce their numbers and keep Rita alive.

Rita eventually snapped out of it and joined in the fight, however the team was ambushed from behind from Dagan Neros that just so happen to be smart enough climb the ceiling and land behind the group. Melo was injured trying to defend Rita.

The group was beginning to get worn down when the Dagans stopped and fell back for some (convenient) reason. Usual dramatics and antics ensue and the test scenario ended.

That's kinda how I wanted things to play out when we're RPing with enemies in the mix since them having a close call with a bunch of Dagan swarming them is much more exciting than everyone completely and utterly steamrolling over them in a quest.

Plus gameplay is uninvolved so character levels are no longer a factor in stuff like this. Next scenario I'm hoping to introduce some sort of antagonist character. (Though, I kinda feel weird about this since he's related to Rita.) and we'll do this sort of thing in one of the free fields instead of the lounge/plaza/whatever.

Also, the RP team has been made. The team's name is "Our Story" so feel free to join up.

I'm kinda curious as to the next time you will try this. Was nice, even if I wasn't able to do anything :3

We're thinking of doing it every week on Friday and Saturday at the regular times. Check back to the first post for details on the time.

Oh, great idea. I hadn't roleplayed since years. However, i would like review about roleplaying because... although i know it, i really dunno about your actions while you talk, or doing anything.

Alright, so since this thread is falling behind and discussion is at a stand still. I have something that we (or at least ship 2) might wanna talk about.

...How battles should be played out.

Last weekend, we had a scenario where a group of ARKS went against an antagonist and several Darkers. As soon as the fight broke out, everything went...awkward. Luckily near the end of it, we managed to figure something out and settle with it. We ended up using dice rolls to see whether our hits connected, missed, or were fatal. (1-12 = miss, 13-19 = hit, 20 = chance for a critical, if the second roll was a hit then the critical lands. If it was a miss then it would be a normal hit.)

I wanna know if you guys have other ideas on how battles should be played out? The downside to the dice is that it's completely and utterly random but the upside is that it prevents people from godmodding the shit outta you.

Of course, from the small little RPs you do with other people outside of the general meet-ups the battle system is between you and them. I just wanna set some sort of standard for people to refer to on those big meet-up days.

Should we use dice when fighting against other characters/players/bosses? What about minor enemies like Dagans and the sort? Should we use dice with them too or just write it out? Is there another system that you guys suggest?

In other news, we also have a fairly populated Skype chat group. PM S u r i if you want in.

(Also curious, what's Ship 10 been up to on the RP scene?)

I think smaller ennemies should be left to writing it out.
When I roleplayed on another game, we made a turn order and people would often describe their attack and the GM would reply how it affected the bigger ennemy. Then when the GM would attack, players targetted got to write a reaction.
It worked pretty well, though it was easier to manage powerlevels in it (which isn't the case here, as everyone has their own take on the way things work in the PSO2verse).
But I'm fine with the dice until (if we ever) find something that works well.

I think that basic system works great for fighting between PCs and plot villains. For lesser enemies, though, the dice should probably be left out.

It's best not to get bogged down with too many numbers and rules, especially in big collaborative projects like MMO RP. After all, we -are- already playing in an RPG-- our characters already have the stats, equipment, abilities, and so on that people often associate with an RP. We can swing sabers, we can shoot guns. There's no need to put another RPG system on top of the RPG system that makes us play in the first place.

For conflict between PCs and story villains, however, there is no established system so that simple dice mechanic sounds pretty great. As for normal enemies like Dagans, I can totally understand if you want a more tense and dangerous feel for a scene (rather than steamrolling with the normal system), but it should probably just be resolved with common sense and the writing itself. Basically, if an Arks wants to kill a Dagan they probably /can/, or else they shouldn't be out in the field in the first place.

Of course, people are free to handle their own scenes however they want! This is just my opinion on things for the bigger meets as said.

As far as Ship 10 goes, we're still doing pretty well! I need to update the summary thread on our forums, but we still have scenes going and about a dozen active players joining in on and off. It has mostly been self-contained stories so far, but if you guys would want to do some sort of plot that spans multiple ships, that would be awesome!
