You don't actually even have to download the client, you can hit "connect" on the yellow bar at the side of the expfull page and it'll open the basic version for you

When does maintenance end? And does it usually start this early? I thought it started in like 2 hours?

Today was a bit of an earlier start, as stated on Bumped. Servers are usually up at....2AM EST, I think (it's been a long time since I was awake when maintenance ended, so shit if I actually know). I dunno when it would be tonight, though, since it started early.
