I recommend that you set the "AO setting" variable to "Performance".
What do you mean by trickier to enable? The fact that recent driver are unable to force AO?

Precisely, the newer drivers aren't "unable" to enable it if I understood correctly but it may not be as easy and/or efficient as it used to be

updated drivers to latest version and Sizustars settings no longer work.

Edit: rolled back drivers and found out AA compatibility was set back to 0x0000000 (etc)

At some point, Nvidia upgraded their Ambient Occlusion to HBAO+. Unfortunately, it doesn't work well in PSO2 (but it looks WAY better in other games). That is why it is tricky to enable, because you need to roll back your driver to a version that is months old, which simply isn't an option for people that play a large variety of games.

I tried to get HBAO+ working in PSO2, but I sadly couldn't Well, it kinda works, but it is so subtle it isn't worth the performance hit. My results are in a different page (when I was trying to get a more pronounced effect), but the glitches are terrible, so I don't recommend using it.

Apparently I am able to use this setting on my 340.52 driver in my laptop

    AA Bit - 0x004F12C1

Nice Guide i'm normally not a fan of oversaturated sweetfx profiles in games but for this game it really helps since the ingame aa is really bad and the game looks a bit washed out by default.

Had some problems getting Radeon pro to hook i found that it worked if i did the Environment Variables thing and then started the game in radeonpro from the exe with "+0x33aca2b9" but i didn't get the item translation with this method and if i launched the game with the tweaker it didn't work every time and i had to restart radeon pro and the game a few times again to get it to work.

Then i found out that radeonpro always hooked with the tweaker if i ticked "fix Gameguard errors" in the tweaker bevore playing sure it takes a few seconds longer to get in but it beats having to restart radeonpro and the game ten times beore it works and i can play with sweetfx and the item translation, thought i share this here maybe it helps someone.

That would depends on your system spec and monitor setting.

Combined gives the best, but require 1440P or high resolution(Or else lighting will be weird), and a high end GPU.

And also Lavandy setting is generally made for the latest version of PSO2, so no support for AO.
