Could you reproduce it a second time? I know it's not really intuitive to look for ways to crash your game, but it'll be really helpful to know if this was a one time thing or not.

Also, the item shops are a little weird. The game builds up a list of items as you see them, and then they get translated. So it's normal to see an item you didn't have before on the floor in japanese, and then it'll be in english the next time you see it.

Is there anyway to let the tweaker skip the patch update checks? 9 times out of 10 the tweaker will hang on my computer, nearly all of those are on tweaker update check, story checks, english patch checks, and so on. This won't freeze the program (meaning I would need to open the task manager and stop the program) but the program won't advance on its own either and no matter how long I wait it will never light up the "Launch PSO 2" button.

As Variant said, try replicating what you did to double-check. The Item Translation Patch is still in the works, so it may take a while until all items appear properly with their English names no matter where you view them, but the good part is that the English names should still appear in the Item Details window.

When you pick up the items that are in Japanese from the ground, they should show English titles in your inventory. If they don't, I would definitely take a screenshot and post it here for AIDA to see.

I've only encountered the Japanese names of items from Katana and Bullet Bow drops so far. When I pick it up, though, it's all in English in my inventory (everything but the Item Descriptions, that is, because those haven't been finished yet).

Does the Torrent file have to be in the win32 as well?
    This might be your problem:

The RAR file that comes out of that torrent (which you should save in a separate Story Patches folder on your desktop), is supposed to be placed in the folder of your choosing (NOT the Phantasy Star Online 2 WIN32's folder).

Once it is done downloading in the torrent, open up PSO2 Tweaker, click on the Orb and go to Options > Story Patch Location Reset. Then, exit from the Options menu, click on the Orb > Install/Update Patches > English Story Patch > Select the RAR File (NOT the one with '.torrent' at the end of it) > OK.

It should begin installing and, if done correctly, you will see an MS-DOS prompt display with the installation progress. Wait for it to finish, then launch PSO2 again and see if that works.

If it 'still' doesn't work, it's because you don't have your PSO2 WIN32 file location selected from the Orb's drop-down menu.
Add to that the update that will appear in Tweaker once finished installing 'Story Patch 8-8-2013.rar' and you should be good to go then. Try redoing the quest to see if the text is still in Japanese after everything finishes installing.

Did you try uninstalling PSO2 Tweaker and installing the latest one that AIDA links out to from the first post in this thread?

Re-apply all of the patches afterwards and then see if the program stalls again.

    I'm getting an error...

I install the patches (Story, larger files then the english story patch) after that it tells me to update the story again and it doesn't work, afterwards I try and launch PSO2 and it tells me to post this.

NintenJon25- That reduced it to a 3 out of 10. But it still does hang when checking for updates even with a fresh copy.

I've been having more trouble with the patch - it was only Katanas and Bullet Bows in shops I was looking for in the shops and on the ground, though, so I guess that's why they were in Japanese.

But I think I can confirm, I've been crashing only when I use the item translation; Though it could be because I removed the opening videos and the like, due to the nature of what happens when I get the error...However, I crashed out four times before I could start a run of Falz; I unchecked Item Translations before it finally let me.

If it happens again I'll get a screeny of what happens, but for now I'm going to do my best to describe it:

I start the game, log in, etc, and usually in the lobby, I get a pop up saying "Pso2 has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience." I can alt tab back to the game and move around the lobby, but I cannot load any new areas, and some menus refuse to open as well. I can run around the lobby I'm in normally, but anything anyone says does not pop up; They move in place; And, on a recently memorable happening, I got the error in the middle of a Falz Arms fight. The boss died, the telepipe to campship popped up, but the Quest Clear screen didn't show, the item crystals from the boss(es) didn't come, and I couldn't access my inventory or party options screen to abandon quest. I tried going through the pipe, and I got the age-old "forever loading screen" glitch.

All this kept up until I turned off Item Translations and booted through the regular SEGA launcher :/

Restore all of your vanilla JP PSO2 files through Tweaker, then re-apply the patches.

Here is a quick guide to do so:
    1. Open PSO2 Tweaker.
    2. Click on the Orb > Check for PSO2 Updates. When it asks if PSO2 worked from the last time, just select 'No'.
    3. After all vanilla JP files are installed, go back to Orb > Install/Update Patches > English Patch/English Large Files. Install those, then proceed to the next step.
    4. Repeat what you did in Step 3, but select English Story Patch. It will ask for you to define the RAR's file location. Locate the RAR file for the Story Patch (not the torrent), then install the Story Patch. If everything is done correctly, you will see an MS-DOS display the installation progress of the patch. After that is done, click on 'Yes' to update Story Patch 8-8-2013 with all of the recent changes made.
    5. Do not use the Item Translation Patch (make sure it is not enabled) and start up PSO2. Tell us what happens then.
    6. (optional) If what I said works, then (only if you feel inclined to do so), try turning the Item Translation Patch on again and booting up PSO2. Another issue with Japanese items appearing in your inventory could be because you are using the shortcut key (Ctrl + F1, and so on) to switch from English to Japanese text and vice versa. Go into your options and change your shortcut chat settings to go through the NumPad buttons instead.

    Hope that helps!

    Hey!
So after a lot of hassling and basically wrestling with PSO2's sign-ups and attempting to patch on the original launcher (failing) I finally found this!
    It's super helpful! Thank you!
I just tried to update and apply the EN patches (apart from the Story one cause I heard it's bugged/broken? Idk whether that's old but I didn't do it to be safe), as well as installing and updating my PSO2 and I got an error message when I tried to launch and it told me to paste this link with the error log: http://pastebin.com/xsbcu7RA

Anyone tell me what's going on and how to fix it?
    Thanks~

[EDIT] I'M AN IDIOT AND FORGOT TO CHECK FOR PS02 UPDATES. Ignore this for now...Haha. I'll post again if I need help before I jump to conclusions. *facepalm*

Aww...don't say that. You're just new, like a good portion of us here too.

    Welcome to PSO-World!

So I would still need to download the RAR file anyway via Torrent before I can use the tweaker to just slowly update the patch? Didn't think I would have to do that with the tweaker at all.
