Gunslash is actually very good on the melee classes. All its bonuses from the stances amp up Ranged damage enough to make it very viable. It's not as good as using melee attacks in most situations, since they will kill faster and for less PP, but Additional Bullet is very useful for certain enemies or certain enemy spawn waves.
Indeed, the left branch of the tree buffs R-ATK by 170% as max, which is enough to do things like 1.5k~1.8k per additional bullet shot average as a pure melee class. I'd say that's pretty decent to kill most of the low hp annoying flying stuff.
Getting back on topic, if you want to go for Ra/Te, then go for it.
But in this game with its dodge system, and its incredibly weak mobs, the best support you can give is destroying mobs/bosses for your party as a Ra/Hu, while as Ra/Te the best you can do is buffing your teammates' atk per hit by 200, and getting 4 wb shots every 90 seconds.
Let's imagine this situation:
Floating Continent AQ, the usual 4 Windira spawn (those annoying bastards)
Ra/Hu can load weak bullet, put it, JA Homing emission, and release it on them, instantly killing them.
Ra/Te can put the same wb, but they need 2 or more homing emission to kill the same Windira.
What I am saying is that Ra/Hu basically does the same as Ra/Te, but better. You don't depend on your party: Your party depends on you.
Also, triple step + assault buster is one of the best mobility tools.
PD: If you still want to go Ra/Te - Te/Ra, then read Unlucky's post.
