gix's extra power is huge for stuff where you don't need automate i.e. anywhere you feel comfortable with enemy attack patterns where you are blocking most of the damage.

Is there a reason I shouldnt go Br/Gu with the bow? with the normal attack homing ring to keep chains going?
I really really want to use the bow but the weak point focus when weak points in late game content are so scarce is really offputting ://

BR/GU's damage outside of chain is really bad, so unless you're in a party that allows you to build chains, I wouldn't recommend it.
Also, no you have tons of heads and weakpoints, more than enough to get by, although I can agree with Tokyo and Vegas being annoying in that regard, You still have a lot of strategies to get your way with bow evn though other weapons would be more efficient.
Most of the crazy people willing to forsake katana for pure bow action go BR/RA, of course for the multipliers, but also because having weak bullet means you have something to create weak points for yourself against tougher mobs or some bosses, and of course being a portable lesser RA if nobody else can take the role in a mpa

+45% PP regen on katana normal attacks is that much of a non-factor for everyone else? Figure it would be nice to make hatou spam a bit more sustainable.

1. You would switch to tmg to build chains anyway usually.
2. BR/GU is not really a viable class for general purpose
3. Go BR/HU average stance. Sharp bomb+kamikaze arrow are very powerful.

I want to say Gurren Tessen isn't that bad, but I still think the PP cost of the second part needs to be higher.
