I can confirm this. Mixed a +33 Astral Blaze with a +32, got a +34.

What about 30max grind lvl + 34max grind lvl = ??
Does it always disregard the max grind lvl of the fodders? Makes me not want to upgrade my Astra weapons and just hope something drops for me instead.

Just like what they said, it disregards the max grind of fodders no matter how much the max grind is.

No real point; it is just to replicate a New Year's tradition of going to a shrine, making your prayer, and getting a fortune.

I'm not sure but I think I got a title called New Year's Pilgrim that gives you 1 Tri boost 100% as a reward for using the shrine at the shop area.

Checking it out on the jp wiki title page, it says "I visited a shrine in the season lobby" on google translate.on the new year's pilgrim title description.

Then again, may possibly be a title reward for another event or last year

That's just a title for using the shrine, they've used this same shrine in previous years too.
