I don't know if I'd refer to Mami as a "kid". Regardless, there are fortunately very few mahou shoujo shows that go that far (and Madoka Magicka is strictly a deconstruction of the genre to begin with).

I don't know, when I think of "kid" I think of someone pre-pubescent (i.e. really, really short). Of course this means that someone referring to a teenager by "kid" is kind of an insult...
