I highly doubt EACH hit is doing the same, because if it is, there are some things you aren't noticing that are altering your damage outcomes, like percents, elements, or grinds or something. Or you are playing PSO.
On an equality basis, Rifles have individual shots that hit for a good deal harder than Mechs, but Mechs have the hitrate and PA's that just shred multiple targets. Rifles have the insanely powerful Mine Sneak PA, while Mechs have the bullet-hailing Cool Shot. Each have their merits. I still like Rifles for the most part over Mechs, but if I need that damage instead of range or individual power, then I just whip out my Riverman Missouri and go ham on everything in my way. :P

Maybe i just need better rifles i have the Missouri's mech guns and some 6 star rifles

I have noticed it takes longer to obtain some higher quality guns in PSZ than it does with obtaining higher quality Hunter weapons in the four digit hours I have logged into PSZ.
