Rifle a viable damage source for gunner after Ep3?

Like the title says, I'm asking if anyone thinks the class rebalance allowing for GU to specialize in chain building will make rifles a viable alternate source of damage now for gunners who don't sub RA? Cause right now there's almost no point to a GU even looking at rifles unless they main or sub RA

I doubt anything will change. Twin Mechs or just play RA as always.
