Is this actually true though? swiki lists it as a drop from ギグル・グンネガム, which is actually the non-rare variant of the boss.

I could be wrong on it.

But the drop rates are low. 30 runs last night - got two 11* Knuckles but no units.

No one in any of my parties got any units either.

Would be nice to get a confirmation on it yes.

I can confirm that a person in one of my runs got the arm unit off the rare variant, but I don't think that excludes it from the normal variant drop table.

All were with all parts broken. Mask, Horn, Chest and both Boots. By the end of it my team parties werr breaking so efficiently he didn't have a single moment outside of stunlock the entire battle.

This is likely, but you should be doing the breaks regardless, given all his weaknesses are exposed only if you do the break (or wait for his ice bridge move).
