There's nothing that could be misinterpreted about Shironia, White Land, White Territory, etc. All of them are easy to understand.

Shironia is just the only one that retains the idea that the area is specifically Japanese themed. So it suits better than the other names.

I think the patch team decided to go for Shironia not because 'White Land' was not to their liking, but because then the other side of Halcotan would have to be called 'Black Land' and they wanted to avoid all the jokes.
It's also a bit more convenient to refer to the inhabitants as Shironians ans Kuronians, because the only alternative in English would be 'member of the white clan' or 'member of the black clan', since we cannot use the word 'clan' (民 in Japanese) to refer to individual people in English (Hans' order could not be worded as 'go kill 70 black clans' for instance).

All in all, I disagree with this choice, and I think the patch has become consistently bad since the release of the Dragon Altar, but heh, I have never used the patch and I never will, it's just a linguistic thing.

A good localisation is not about sticking to the source material, it's about not sounding like a translation. The best localisations I know are FFXIV and Dragon's Dogma, check them up if you want. It's not because I'm a fan of Elizabethan English, but the fact that the spells in DD in Japanese are called 'fireball', 'thunder' or 'ice pillar' and the localised names are 'ingle', 'levin' or 'frigor' is a huge part of why this localisation is breathtaking.

The team working on the PSO2 patch does not have the tools or resources to achieve this, obviously, character limits are a bitch.

Only time I met Angel outside of the EQ is h but if you don't rush blindly into his attacks they are rather easy to dodge.

But I am. I love the translation of FFXII cause it fits the story so well.
