Escaflowne I missed out on that anime.... =/

Other anime I know you might like are Attack of the Titans and Sword Art online though I personally disliked both mainly because the pacing was awful.
Deadman Wonderland, Samurai 7 and Cashern Sin.

Planning to replay PSP2 and prove to myself that the chaining mechanic do not slow down the pace of the combat. =/
Planning to replay PSU (ep1 and 2) for story and gameplay, PSZ and PSP2 offline mode Only Also I'm keeping my FC for psz up though the Network Mode is closed.

Berserk and Gungrave are my favorite animes. Plenty of violence and action in both. I highly recommend them.

As far as movies Akira and Ghost in the Shell are the best. Ninja Scroll is also a good movie. Plenty of violence and action in those.

Also Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is a good anime series but I will admit it is really slow at times with way to much talking.

Kyosougiga for action with cuter charm. That actually wasn't trash.

Will a list a few unsaid ones:

The Guyver movies (the 80's ones, the new ones are kinda lacking, instant ultra violence.)

Robot Carnival (One of my first animes, but it's a compilation short with multiple artstyles, some are action some are just art films.)

    Eureka 7(Not eureka seven ao.)

Devilman (another oldie but DEFINITELY violent and actionpacked.)

Armitage III (If you like ghost in the shell.)

Project A-ko OVAs(My first anime, I dunno about violent but definitely has action and blood.)

    Cyber City Oedo 808

Fist of the north star (is a classic and has exploding heads, pretty much madmax mixed with bruce lee.)

    Vampire Hunter D

Jojo's Bizarre adventure (It lives up to bizarre and it can be fabulous/have a shortage of women if that bugs you but it's super good and super violent.)

Gundam 08th MS Team (Highly reccomended if you ever watch gundam anything.)

Gundam war in the Pocket (Another one of my favorites from gundam.)

GANTZ (The manga is better but first half of the anime is at least worth watching, more super action/violence.)

Big O (is another anime that's acceptably good for no reason.)

Tenjou Tenge (100000000% lives up to just action and violence but animes story was cut up kind of badly.)

Air Gear (same creator of Tenjou Tenge, more fantasy street extreme sport thing but people kick each other in the face, my favorite 2000's anime.)

Hunter X Hunter (Tricky to get into, but when you do, it's super cool.)

Full Metal Panic (There's also fumofu the comedy version but yeah, war action violence.)

Space adventurer Cobra movie.(So fucking manly.)

    Cowboy Bebop (Nuff said.)

Already mentioned ones that I'd emphasize going for:

Akira (Nothing to say it's Akira.)

Ghost in the Shell(It can be kind of slow though. )

Berserk (Another manga better scenario, but yeah fucking watch it is really gud ja.)

Ninja Scroll (imo too much violence because of rapey reasons, but yeah.)

    Deadman wonderland was okay (violent.)

    Bubblegum Crisis.

Samurai X the movie (yeah, but the rouroni kenshin anime series.. is kind of boring imo, likeable characters though)

Outlaw star(an old favorite but maybe enhanced by nostalgia?)

Gurren Lagann (by now I see it as whatever, but I can't front, when I first saw I was ultimately wtf'd every episode.)

DBZ movies (half of em better than the animes)

I've seen enough japan popculture material to ultimately hate anime/manga but these are animes I can mostly personally defend.

edit: feel like I'm missing another dozen but yeah...

Gunbuster and Diebuster. These two animes were made by the same team that made Gurren Lagann.
