By that definition everything is a fad.

The biggest issue with respect to this is the need to sub Braver to fully maximize damage from the Dragonslayer setup. People who argue Hu/Fi is better are talking from a position of familiarity (best weapon, best subclass). That in itself isn't wrong - it's the standard position. Braver stances are sub-par. The point is, Hu/Br Dragonslayer is a lot like melee Te/Hu - a setup that is excellent for mobbing, and not so stellar for bossing; something Hunter has been deficient in for a very long time. I may just drop the 10m+ and have some fun with it.

Either have better mobbing and learn to boss decently with the Dragonslayer, or stick to the standard Hu/Fi. At least we have a choice now.

If Sega releases 10% stronger Sword like they just did with Gix and Austere Hu/Fi gets 10% damage. Hu/Br still has to stick to Dragon Slayer cause it gives 80% more damage. Then Sega does it 10 times more until the point where Hu/Br has 1% better damage with the newest 14* than with Dragon Slayer and Hu/Fi just got through 10 buffs for over 250% damage increase. Of course there is always the chance that we get 13* version of Dragon Slayer but it's less likely that Sega just giving us stronger weapons for general use build.

Of course numbers are wrong but it's the idea that counts. Fi/Hu was the same where you had Elysion for ages until Huge Cutter came while Hu/Fi kept getting new and stronger 13*.

By that definition, you just called Austere a fad. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the chase in MMOs... along with power creep.

Yes stronger weapons are quite the fad, the problem is when class combos are fads. There can be a rebalancing or two but Hu/Fi and PA sword won't die unless Sega does a huge fuck up, meanwhile just a normal power creep will disable Hu/Br sooner or later.

In the face of this game's progression with respect to emerging content, the death of Hu/Br Dragonslayer may not happen for a long time. Sac Bite 0 notwithstanding.

In the end, we're deciding between having fun now or being stable later. We can do both now, that's a first for Sword Hunter. Sometimes we want to be able to do something slightly different to resist the gaming experience becoming stale.

I don't really want to stop people from playing it. I am just saying that you could call it a fad seeing how it's not a very stable combo.
