In the case of XCX, the game included four characters that were originally DLC in Japan, so that may or may not have covered the what was taken out, ie. Lin wearing and under outfit due to her age and boob sliders.

Censorship has been around for as long as we're able to communicate.

While games that come from Japan have been censored it's due to the sexual nature involved, and Japan embraces that to an extent, but they're not exempt from censored content. Take for example, Call of Duty, Gears of War, and even Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance(made in Japan) were changed to lessen the violence or changed to where dismemberment was minimal. The Last of Us was censored where decapitation was not possible, but changed to be a head wound.

In the US, same-sex marriage was only recently approved, but the concept in Japan is more strict so it was altered somewhat for the localized version allowing for changes that wouldn't have made the cut initially. We're also in an age where feminism and equal rights look on media that depicts women in any capacity that can be deemed compromising or subjected to sexual conduct to be a blight in todays society and have an outcry of misogynistic agendas.

However you look at it, censorship is neither really good nor bad, but adjusted to how each region views these types of media being brought into their country. Australia, however, is a different story.

You're upset because they censored extremely creepy concepts?

I'm upset because I'm not allowed to try out all of the game's aspects even though the devs decided to put them in the game. Doesn't really matter if I was going to like them or not. But I don't think people like you would be able to unterstand my point since everything you deem creepy and inappropriate has to be creepy and inappropriate for everyone else too, am I right?

Its a shame region locking is a thing. While I don't care for the features being removed, people should be able to use removed features via import without having to also import a Japanese 3DS or resort to modding.

The actual non-petty issue of videogaming (metaphorical in this case) cockblocking that Nintendo needs to be slapped upside the head for.

This just in: some people don't understand what the word "censorship" means. Story at 11.

But no worries, Nintendo actually spun off the removed petting minigame into its own series. It's pretty great.

So, what are you going to call it?
    Localization?
If a localization team thinks certain aspects of a game are inappropriate for a certain region and therefore remove it, it is still censorship.

So, um... this game is still about war and strategy and stuff, right? Is there a particular reason why there's an option to stroke women?
I mean, I get that generals often had... late night visitors to engage in such activities. Is that enough to include it in a war game?

What one region thinks is appropriate doesn't mean the remainder of the world will.

Last I checked this applies to the North American version. This may hold over for the European version, but that's also on NoE for deciding whether or not it's appropriate for an entire region opposed to just the country.
