Cast it till your pp is down to 0, but do not let go of your mouse key yet, wait till your pp regens and casts it again this time you could let key go, and the field just stays there

Not sure, but that is the only way i know how lol

It can work with any ammount of PP, you have to use it for a VERY short period, like a single frame. The reason it's easier when you're out of PP is because you can't do it any longer due to the PP drain that starts immediately when you cast it.
