To reiterate, we didn't make those mods and so we don't claim responsibility for them. The Japanese actually ask specifically that people don't redistribute them so we don't.

Has anyone ever tried swapping out NPCs with existing player characters?
For example, replacing the Afin that walks around in the lobby with another player's character by using their character file?

NPCs are .cml and very different from salon save data. The only thing we've got concerning both of those is Agrajag's (I think it was Agrajag. I have a very, very bad habit of mixing up Agrajag and Raujinn.) CML Parser, which converts .cml to what can be loaded in the salon, and it doesn't work in reverse. Feel free to go ask them about reversing it if you want, but they've probably got more interesting things to do.

Because of how Sega decided outfits should work, all NPCs have their own separate versions of the outfits they wear. So if you want to just edit what they're wearing, you can do that without changing the player version of it.
(I was considering putting Huey in a different outfit on top of the everyone-is-Huey mod. H..a...h..a...)

The one linked in the OP will work. You can also grab the English Patch RAR from psumods and search for the included dummy checksum "d5480a26b3dea3dda37abd1b61fb47cd" every time they put out a new one if you are paranoid it won't work.

Well the problem is they're done lol. Main patch team is quitting, and Aida's team is taking over and uses a new system that doesn't use the checksum.
