Man, only thing to do this episode is shitty generic-brand TD over and over and people are still fixated on schoolgirls? Makes me wonder...
Spoiler!
What if Sega knew Ep 5 was gonna be shit so they made Ep 4 so superficially absurd so that they would be distracted from how boring and lifeless Ep 5 is.
Didn't we just start the Episode like, just over 3 months ago?
ID: MPBLPure (Ship 2er) Akane Tekuro -- Proud Boots main; above average main character. Exploring Omega. Lead Chip: Matoi [S Halloween] Rei Sawatori - Hero. Taking a breather. Free Match is actually other people's Main Match Grades 1-2, by having people who have already achieved Grade 3 playing 1-2, it keeps those from being completely dead. If they didn't have that eventually the majority would be Grade 3 and those still in Grade 1 and 2, people who are new, returning players, or just people starting a new alternate character, won't be able to play BQ as often or efficiently until it just straight up dies completely.
Also I have no issues finding Grade 3 Expert matchmaking groups on Ship 2, I usually have to wait 7 minutes tops.
Just make sure you're not trying just before, during, or after an EQ, and try to play during JP hours, easier to find groups during JP times.
On a side note, I really enjoy where the story is headed, it's like it's straight out of the design and style of the original Phantasy Star, I hope it progresses how I imagine. Though to be honest, even Ep4 met my expectations, story is the main reason I've stuck with this game since testing phases, and the series in general for over 15 years.
And just for the general thread topic, putting in a box to avoid being obnoxious
Spoiler!
The reason Hero is stronger is because Sega wants people to move to advance classes, the intention is to bring a new series of classes without subs so they can balance these classes more efficiently and properly.
They've already started talking about future advance classes and mentioned another may come soon. Subclasses, though offer a lot of fun and variety, also make people fall into the trap of having horrible builds and combinations with no synergy, on top of being ridiculously difficult to balance (not that sega is good at it anyways, but really if it was so horrible why play at all).
I mean I'm sad older classes are a behind now, generally speaking (Fighter and Gunner can still compete wonderfully, there are even Bouncer mains who outpreform heroes), I think those classes are way more fun to play, but overtime all those old weapon types will be recycled into Advance classes and your favorite weapons will get back in the game.
Episode 5 is only a month or so in and everyone is already crying about it like they did in all previous episodes. Honestly I don't even know what to say anymore.
I used to be really active here, and even in other areas of the PSO2 community, even prior to PSO2, but a lot of the doom and gloom people have frustrates me and has been making my enjoyment of the community dwindle. If the game is not to your tastes, it's fine to quit, Sega does make bad decisions and Kimura is kind of an idiot but the constant "This game sucks now" every time there's an major update gets boring fast, we all know they make questionable decisions, but honestly sometimes people overact, say they'll never play again or the game is broken and dead, but never stop playing anyways just to say the same thing in a few months.
aaaaand forgive me for being "Wall of Text" of the day, I don't usually do this, I know it's annoying, but dang I really wanted to say something about it. Feel free to ignore me.
*cough* I know I'm not the first person with a Karen Erra icon to do this
What do you exactly mean by "Straight out of the original Phantasy Star?"
Necro or not, the thread is still somewhat relevant no?
I mean, overall, the general design of what they're doing with ep 5 is ass even compared to Ep 4.
Don't get me wrong, I can enjoy the Devil Castle somewhat, but then what?
Some still don't like the shift from space to a more obvious fantasy/medieval setting.
I don't mind it myself, but considering the game is definitely Science Fantasy, more focus on the science part might be more enjoyable for some.
That said, for story... isn't the whole reason Monster Hunter is so damn popular in Japan because they DON'T focus on story? The last time a Monster Hunter was made with a story, it didn't go down well at all over there. Monster Hunter World is a pretty big risk on the publishers part, as it's more aimed at western audiences. An audience that tends to prefer story.
Really, I don't think it matters what Sega does story-wise. They live on adding cutesy and cool things to the game, with things that might be popular at the time to try and pull people in. For a while it's basically been Isekai. Ep4 was basically Isekai in to a more science fiction setting. Now it's more fantasy, because the fantasy genre is picking up over there.
PSO2 will probably keep going wherever popular trends in anime go, because Sega doesn't want to lose it's cash cow.
