Weapon combinations with basic weapons. ?

I was wondering when combining lets say Egg Blaster parts with a handgun, does it matter which basic handgun I use or should I use a Raygun? Same with the Rainbow Baton and other weapons. Also I know I should use one with hit%.

The difference between the type of weapon used is the level requirement and (most of the time) grind needed, possibly due to better %s being easier to find on higher weapon levels.
