I was looking into what I would need for taking my PS2 online, and I noticed that my PS2 had tw unused USB ports on the front... I tried using my UBS mouse in them, nothing happened. What are they for? I would try a keyboardm, but I don't have a UBS keyboard.

USB keyboard for games like FFXI, Monster Hunter, and EQOA (all of which I've played online). I wouldn't reccomend using a USB mouse with your PS2, you can't adjust the sensitivity of it. If it's too slow, or too fast, you're stuck with it.

Also the Eye Toy, Guncon 2, and I think there was a USB printer function for a couple games.

For online games, USB keyboard can be used(Not all of them, of course). Mouse can be used with some games(FFXI is the only one that comes to mind). USB headsets work with it, too.

The second RPG maker (or was it third?) also has mouse support I believe.

Okay, that's what I was guessing... Merci!

Hmm, A few more things I'm thinking of: I have a network adapter (I think...) and I'm gonna check if my Wireless XBOX communicator will work with my PS2.

As long as I don't need the expandable Hardrive, I'll be set for PSU once I buy a keyboard. Much Cheaper then on PC.

I believe Half-Life for the PS2 also supports USB Mouse & Keyboard connections.

Really makes me wonder, why, if the PS2 is KB & Mouse ready - why don't more FPS games on it support them? I don't even think Quake III Arena or Unreal Tournament supported them - and they were competing against the Dreamcast versions which -HAD- KB & Mouse options + online play.

Hmm thats pretty interesting so far everything mentioned is correct, however the main reason that the PS2 was designed with USB connectivity was to promote the EYETOY

i'm using a thing called "maxdrive" for ps2. it allows you to use a memory stick to hold your save files.
