it looks like Mirei actually joins and fights too!

Well some might say this was gonna happen but you never know she did seem like she was gonna end up being an NPC or something. But it's great she is tough enough to assist defeating enemies too!

This is really a nice surprise! Who knows who else in the character list can be a party member.

I thought Mirei being a party member was a no-brainer, since she's in the original trailer casting ice spells and stuff.

BTW I find it odd that all the hot chicks in PSU are Newman lol Karen, Mirei, Maya... must be a lot of Nei fans at Sonic Team

As nice as it is to see any new PSU media, those PS2 screens look terribly cluttered up by the HUD. I hope there's at least a way to control the transparency of the mini-map. Online, with 6 players, using the maximum of 4 cut-in-chat flashy faces all at once, is only going to lead to a very busy screen affair on Sony's device.

I guess as far as possible party members go, one of the other 'obvious' ones we're yet to see in non-cutscene action with Ethan is Tylor, unless I've missed it somewhere down the line. I'm quite pleased - from this and other media we've seen - by the way the NPC characters initiate their own little dialogues during battle. After seeing early Partner Machinery speech, here's hoping that they sprinkle it with their own personalities rather than just "Press X to attack!!", or "Look out for the big robot!" (and if they even interact with each other, then that would be a nice little touch).

In one of the videos from last Friday's update, we see Ethan fighting along-side Tylor. It is during the fight with the unknown machine boss on Moatoob.

Ah yes, right you are. Infact, looking at that video again, it seems someone else might be revealed. A higher level Ethan appears to fight with a 'red capped' character. Judging from the player's levels, does this mean we get to 'keep' Dr. Dawson/Dorson beyond the relics, or is this perhaps Kou Taragi?

Well since you are on this forum as well I will bother you here aswell .
I can just see the sonic team meeting room in front of me now. The slide show shows the initial designs and as soon as a female newman goes by the IQ drops to zero, everyone mumbles a zombie-like 'newman', the drooling starts .

The reason you have 2 new's with you in the begin is cause Karen can't use technics and Maya does (handy for support). I suspect you will get a beast and cast standard on most missions later in the game. There is a chance you will have to go to their worlds first. The group will probably differ in npc's and size as the story progresses.

There a cute cast in some movies named ルウ (Ruu? Probably Lou). I am guessing we will get to see more like her as the game progresses.

Ethan will probably end up a real pimp at the end of the game beeing surrounded by hotties of all races and classes .

ya if this keeps up maybe we'll have access to as many selectable party members just like in Shining Force.

that would be so cool if even Remlia will join and fight too.

With games like the shining force selecting party members was also a big part of your strategy, level one group or level all characters.
I suspect it will be more like grandia 2. Every character has his own path to walk and this path isn't always the one Ethan follows but they will cross Ethans path several times.

I just realised how much time we talk about this game and how little we know. The game could be so different then we imagine. I can't wait till it hits the stores.

well ya maybe some characters are exclusive to some parts.

but the card feature thing made me think about flexible party system.

but I mean there is still questions to be answered. we don't see Karen with Ethan during the Tylor fight. or that scene where Leo and Lou are with Ethan on Moatoob.

so I dunno. and offline story seems to have a 4 party limit. so hmmm I wonder how they will balance the cutscenes with the characters we have.

or maybe it doesnt matter who we don't bring along, if there is a cutscene they are in, they will show up as if they were with you the whole time.
