Techniques are now combos?

Did I just read correctly that techniques are used as combos now in PSU? That would be INSANE. I remember one of the first things I tried to do when I had just gotten PSO on the DC was use a technique in combos. When I couldn't I was a little confused because it seemed like such a natural thing for the game.

Through all the versions of PSO I was always a Newman/Force and I always used only techniques, empty handed.

Magic in combos for PSU is making me do backflips waiting for it, lol. Did I read something wrong? Please tell me I didn't!
