Question about routers

Alright, I wanna get a wireless router, due to the realization that I need to be online whilst still playing PSU (when it comes out online, I'm getting the PS2 version)

Two questions, Does anybody think this is a moronic idea/will make my ping *Insane*?

And if not, What type of routers would you suggest? that could be in the 40-70 dollar range? (or am I asking too much?>.<) I"m looking to buy tonight, so your comments are very much helpful.

Unless you're really far away from the router, your actual internet speed won't be affected. Transfers between computers connected to the router will take a hit, but for gameplay, you won't notice any difference.

I think Circuit City has the Linksys WRT54G on sale for $50, probably a good buy, especially since you can download hacked firmware for it that opens up a lot of extra features.
