I realize the reasoning behind rules banning talking about free/private servers, but now that ST has announced it will be shutting down I find it a bit wrong to maintain a rule which allows people to believe there will be no means of getting online once ST is gone.

Perhaps the staff could post a notice and plan ahead by allowing information on these servers to be circulated as of april 1, 2007?

....... just a thought from someone who would like to see a community, no matter how small, preserved.

    Wie wahr, wie wahr. *g*

I did also already thought about it.

From what I'm now, it isn't even, like the private servers run on hacked server software, it's more they made their server software from what they captured from stream from PSO itself.
(looked what PSO "wants"/sends and did build their server software at this)

So it's a self made software.
    So i don't think it's a law issue.

well actually it is a law issue in the US..

blizzard vs. bnetd is a precedent which basically states it's illegal.

either way it's PSOW's prerogative to consider patronizing these servers theft.. but I also think that reason evaporates once ST shuts their servers down. hope you're reading this ryna!

By assumption and from looks, then it would more than likely be probably be a yes.

However, technically, it still isn't April 2007, meaning this topic shouldn't even be here.

Well actually then i would also be care full.

It's also illegal to provide links to sites that upholds illegal contents.

(something about aiding at illegal stuff)

So it could be possible that PSO-W would be sued if they would provides those links.
(even if they only in posts)

As the shutdown time draws closer, we may re-evaluate the current rule. Until then, discussion of free servers is still strictly off-limits.

But don't the Ultima Online shards make a better precedence for it?
