Ive searched shops and Casino and I see no new items.

The 'update' for 2008 will have been an automatic one I imagine. Usually, the themed lobbies activate at certain times of the year. It wasn't an update as such- you'll have to wait until the next planned maintenance session to see if we get anything new. I may be wrong about the auto-update thing, but I know for sure we didn't get any new content.
As for New Year Rappies, no, there aren't any. You'll just have to wait a bit for the next update.

We aren't getting an update until the 11th. we are STILL HAVING MAITENANCE, but we will not get an update on the 4th. I personally say we don't have maitenance if we don't get an update, because I'm always asleep during them. However, apparently other people decide to take what I say and think it's fact.
Next rare holiday monster is Rappy Amure. (Valentines Day)
Until then nothing special.
We will still get content updates and possibly an event sometime in the spring.
