how do you do challenge mode? does ver.2 have it offline?

You can do them over time. You don't have to do it all at once.

Actually it is 46 areas divided up into 9 stages for Episode I challenge mode. You have to beat a stage to save it. Online you need to go to the counter then log off then you would have your game save.
